At one time Bohemia had been part of the Holy Roman Empire. It was bordered by Austria, Bavaria and Saxony to name a few. After WWI it became part of Czechoslovakia and between 1938 & 1945 was joined with Germany as part of a region called Sudetenland. In 1969 the Czech lands were renamed the Czech Socialist Republic and in 1990 became the Czech Republic.
